Meet Dr. Gentner
Meet Dr. Gentner
Amy M Gentner, DDS is a general dentist who continues to embody the philosophy she adopted when she decided to be a dentist in eighth grade- that a dentist is truly an oral maxillofacial physician. She started her dental career in ninth grade, working in the lab. Started as an assistant in eleventh grade and graduated from Lapeer West High School as Valedictorian of her class. She went on to become lab technician and thrived in her attendance at Albion College. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology- Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, Mortar Board, and Sigma Xi with Albion College Honors including Thesis.
She then attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. During her time there, she earned the Delta Dental Scholarship, the Hubert Phillips Scholarship, the Lucille Conger Alumnae Group Scholarship for business women, and the James Rachor, DDS Scholarship. She was employed by the school to do dental lab work, research and worked for a professor: assisting, and performing front office duties at her private practice. She was voted by the faculty as the best general dentist of her class (Academy of General Dentist’s Award), and earned the Orthodontics Award, the Periodontics Award, and a position in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honors Fraternity.
Dr Gentner is the inspiration at Graceful Dental Innovations, with a patient-centered approach to family care for all ages. She has built a practice focusing on function and oral health as it relates to patient’s whole life, with a mission of partnering with patients to develop and maintain ultimate dental health with beautiful smiles, predictable functionality, absolute comfort, and minimal pathology. She values her team and is dedicated to providing an environment for professional growth, continued learning, and individual achievement. On top of striving to provide her patients premier dental service with advanced technology, she works to preserve an easily-accessible, welcoming environment. Dr. Gentner and the office participate in the Michigan Dental Association’s Donated Dental Service Program and the Mission of Mercy. Her entire team is dedicated to incorporating advanced technology and procedures, including lasers, same-day crowns, occlusal and TMD treatment, and Complete Dentistry.
She is dedicated to establishing the opportunity for other dentists and their teams to have exceptional coaching and learning for business and clinical systems in their practices. Dr. Gentner speaks to professional groups about topics such as “TMD- the Black Box of Dentistry.” She uses that same passion to lead the Dawson Academy Mid-Michigan Study Club while assisting others on their Complete Dentistry path as an Ambassador for the Dawson Academy. Dr. Gentner has taken enough continuing education and passed the exam to earn her Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry. Beyond direct patient care, she also serves as the Clinical Director of the Benco Coaching division.
As much as she loves dentistry, Dr. Gentner is passionate about her family. Her husband Kevin is a middle school teacher and serves as the Business Manager for the practice. Their son James, currently attends Kettering University and studies Electrical and Computer Engineering. While he attends school, he also works in computer engineering for his Co-Op. The family enjoys serving together through Pilgrim Global Methodist Church, the Lansing Area Emmaus Community, Keryx (prison ministry), karate (Professional Karate Schools of America), and PAPAs (missions serving Jamaica). They have earned our third-degree Black Belts in Tang Soo Do as a family. Dr. Gentner also enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and traveling with her family.
