GRACE NOTES #2
Learning, Leading, and Recharging:
Insights from AGD 2025 in Montreal
Introduction: Staying at the Forefront of Dental Innovation
At Graceful Dental Innovations, we are committed to staying at the forefront of dentistry—not only by providing exceptional care but by continually learning, improving, and adopting the latest advancements in dental technology and patient care practices. This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending the Academy of General Dentistry’s 2025 annual conference in Montreal, where I explored new tools and techniques that will help us better serve our patients in St. Johns, Michigan. I’m excited to share some of these insights, along with a few personal highlights from this rejuvenating trip.
Continuing Education: Advancing Bite and Occlusal Care
The Academy of General Dentistry’s annual convention is known for its high-quality continuing education opportunities. This year, I attended a presentation from a colleague who applies a philosophy of care similar to ours at Graceful Dental Innovations, particularly in the treatment of bite issues and occlusal disease. While this is already a core area of my expertise through years of training, including at the Dawson Academy, I gained several valuable tips to make treatment even easier and more comfortable for both patients and providers.
Emerging Dental Technology: AI’s Impact on Patient Care
Dental conferences are also where I evaluate innovations that could enhance patient care at our St. Johns dental practice. Through lectures, conversations with other dentists, and discussions with vendors, I learned more about how artificial intelligence (AI) is beginning to shape the future of dentistry.
New dental software can now assist in diagnosing conditions such as cavities and bone loss related to periodontal disease or occlusal imbalances. Some tools can even help patients better understand their own X-rays and oral health conditions in real time.
In addition, AI is advancing in ways that will help our team streamline dental insurance processes, improving claim submissions and reducing delays—a benefit to patients and providers alike. These technologies will also support better collaboration with our trusted specialists, strengthening care coordination.
Looking ahead, AI will soon assist in analyzing 3D scans (CBCTs), allowing us to generate faster, clearer reports that can be shared with patients, specialists, insurers, and referring doctors. As a practice known for advanced care in TMJ and TMD treatment, we are particularly excited about this development. These tools promise to enhance patient understanding, support precision care, and reduce administrative burdens for our team.

Personal Reflections: Recharging in Montreal
Of course, a professional conference also offers opportunities for personal rejuvenation. Many patients told me I would love Montreal—and you were all right! The city’s sights, history, and culture were wonderful, and the abundance of gluten-free restaurants was a delight. We enjoyed everything from croissants and pastries to poutine and French bistro fare, orange wine, and even vegan burgers. My husband and I had valuable time together, and I even found time to read, relax, and recharge. Despite flight delays and a citywide power outage, I return home re-energized and inspired.
Conclusion: Bringing Innovation Home to St. Johns
At Graceful Dental Innovations, our mission is to blend advanced dental technology with compassionate, whole-health care—right here in St. Johns. Attending conferences like AGD 2025 ensures that we continue to evolve, bringing back new ideas that make care better for our patients and less stressful for our team. Thank you for entrusting us with your dental health. I look forward to sharing these innovations with you in person and helping you achieve a healthier, more comfortable smile.
With gratitude and excitement,
